20/20 Wardrobe Master

Position: Wardrobe Master, supervising the creation and acquisition of all Costumes for the “20/20” play production, including the following:

  • Construction/purchasing and finding of all costumes within the limitations of schedule and budgets
  • Generating pre-production costume lists
  • Responsibility for the strike and return of all costumes, whether rented or built
  • Responsibility for the maintenance and inventory of costumes in our storage space

The Wardrobe Master works in close consultation with the Director, Tech, Set Designer, Prop Master, and other cast and crew.

Skills: Effective oral and written communication skills. Negotiating skills. Knowledge of theatrical building practices in soft goods, paper, wood, metal and of traditional and new materials. Mechanical skills in the use of hand and sewing machine. The ability to read and understand sewing patterns, design sketches, and the ability to produce working drawings. A problem solver, creative thinker, ability to work in a team environment. 

Physical Demands: Lift and carry materials weighing between 50 – 100 pounds. Physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting, bending, standing, climbing, and/or walking. Ability to drive (with valid driver’s license). Involves getting dirty or dusty and being around paint fumes.

20/20 Prop Master

Position: Prop Master, supervising the creation and acquisition of all Properties (including furniture, set dressing, soft goods, hand props, stage weaponry, food, and ephemera) for the “20/20” play production, including the following:

  • Construction/purchasing and finding of all props within the limitations of schedule and budgets

20/20 Set Designer

Position: The Set Designer is responsible for developing an innovative and original set of design drawings for the “20/20” play production that include the following:

  • Basic ground plan showing all scenic elements
  • Section of the stage space incorporating all elements
  • Front elevations of every scenic element

This will involve a close reading of the script and consultations with the Director, Tech Director, Prop Designer, Costume Designer, and other cast and crew.

Portability: Due to requirements of staging at the San Francisco Fringe Festival (15 minutes to load in and 15 minutes to strike), portability is a crucial design element for this production. We are considering design and construction of a large, portable, re-useable “cranky” to display and cycle through painted muslin backdrops on a continuous roll.

Experience: practical work experience in set design, including working knowledge of construction, lighting design, stage rigging, audio and sound reinforcement, stage management/or production management, and professional standards of stage safety.

Skills: Effective oral and written communication skills. Negotiating skills. The ability to read and understand floor plans, design sketches, construction plans and the ability to produce working drawings.

20/20 Tech

Position: The primary duty of the Tech is the coordination of all scenic activities (scenery construction, painting, and props) for the “20/20” play including the following:

  • Producing working drawings
  • Determining the production expenses of projects given the designer drawings, the number of workers available and their level of skill, and the time frame for completion
  • Negotiating alternatives with the director and set designer
  • Refining the production/construction calendar
  • Overseeing and managing the scenic budget
  • Recruiting and overseeing the running crew
